With the upcoming release of Michael, I wanted to explore how I would approach the film’s theatrical key art and global campaign rollout from a cinematic branding perspective.
The goal was to create a poster that felt larger than life - not just portraying Michael Jackson as an artist, but as a cultural force. The central composition leans into iconography and legacy, using a glowing halo silhouette to symbolize his global impact and timeless presence.
Lighting played a huge role in the direction. I built a warm, solar color palette to evoke stage lights, spectacle, and IMAX-scale energy. Supporting performance imagery was layered into the composition to subtly represent his evolution across eras without overcrowding the hero moment.
From there, I expanded the key art into a full campaign system - showcasing how the visual identity could live across theatrical placements, street marketing, collectibles, and studio rollout photography.
This project was designed as a speculative theatrical campaign exploring scale, emotion, and cultural mythology through modern key art execution.
